We are looking for a dedicated, ambitious, and compassionate Ofsted Registered Children’s Home Manager to join a successful and growing group of children’s residential homes and lead a brand-new 4/5-bed EBD home in Burntwood.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to become the founding Registered Manager and play a key role in shaping the home from the very beginning. You will have the opportunity to establish the culture, values, and standards of the home, build and develop your team, and create a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive.

You will be supported by an experienced and highly visible Responsible Individual, who will provide hands-on support throughout the registration process, opening phase, and beyond, while giving you the autonomy to lead the service and make your mark.

Additional performance bonuses are available for achieving agreed KPI targets and securing an Ofsted Good or Outstanding inspection rating.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day management and development of the children’s home, ensuring high-quality care and compliance with Ofsted regulations.
• Take ownership of the registration and opening process, working closely with the Responsible Individual and wider leadership team.
• Lead quality assurance and continuous improvement processes, including Regulation 45 reports, audits, improvement plans, and responses to Regulation 44 visits.
• Monitor incidents, complaints, performance indicators, and outcomes for children, taking appropriate action where required.
• Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, and positive environment that supports children’s physical, emotional, and educational development.
• Lead, motivate, supervise, and develop the staff team through effective induction, supervision, appraisal, training, and performance management.
• Ensure appropriate staffing levels, training, and evidence-based practice are maintained to support high-quality care.
• Build strong and effective relationships with children, families, local authorities, commissioners, and other external professionals.
• Ensure safeguarding procedures and organisational policies are followed at all times.
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation in line with regulatory and organisational requirements.
• Represent the home professionally in meetings and multi-agency settings.

About You

• Recognised qualification relevant to children’s residential care, such as Level 3 Diploma in Childcare / NVQ Level 4 Children and Young People.
• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
• Minimum of 1 year’s management experience within a childcare setting.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience within residential childcare.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, Ofsted regulations, and children’s residential care.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• A genuine commitment to supporting children’s development, wellbeing, and individual needs.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.
