Leaf Complex Care, part of Catalyst Care Group, is looking for a dedicated PBS Assistant to join our Bristol team. In this role, you’ll support the delivery of positive behavior support for individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and associated mental health conditions, helping to improve their quality of life through ethical, person-centered care.

 

About the Role

As a PBS Assistant, you will work closely with PBS Practitioners and Specialists to contribute to Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) and Functional Assessments. Your role will include supporting staff, carers, and families with practical strategies, assisting in incident analysis, audits, and training sessions, and promoting reflective practice and continuous improvement. You will provide one-to-one guidance to frontline staff, encouraging early preventative approaches, positive risk-taking, and person-centered engagement. Collaboration with families, commissioners, and multi-disciplinary professionals is central to ensuring consistent and sustainable outcomes.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Support the development and implementation of Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) and Functional Assessments
  • Assist in incident analysis, audits, and post-incident debriefs
  • Provide guidance and coaching to frontline staff, carers, and families
  • Promote ethical, person-centred approaches to positive behaviour support
  • Contribute to staff training sessions and professional development
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, families, and commissioners to ensure consistent outcomes

 

About You

  •  Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework, theory, and practice (PBS competencies desirable)
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices and legal frameworks (Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, Human Rights Act)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience supporting vulnerable adults with complex needs and behaviours
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to produce professional reports and engage effectively with stakeholders
  • Experience guiding and training staff teams, with facilitation and coaching skills
  • Resilient, confident, and able to work under pressure
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
  • Career-focused, motivated to learn, and passionate about making a positive impact
  • Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across community settings
